Capsule Geology

The Carbonate showing area is largely underlain by Lower Jurassic volcanic rocks of the Telkwa formation (Hazelton Group).

The Carbonate showing consists of a basalt breccia with fragments frequently cemented by calcium carbonate. Copper oxides and an unidentified grey mineral are present. The gossanous rock is reported to be roughly in place but is referred to as float. Samples collected in 1990 show high copper, zinc, silver and antimony values (Assessment Report 21888).

Work History

In 1991, Atna Resources collected an additional 37 rock samples from areas of alteration and mineralization. The most encouraging developments were the discoveries of the Ridge, Jewelry Box, and Carbonate showings. Anomalous precious metal values were realized in stream sediments, and soil and rock samples. Additional trenching, sampling, shallow drilling, and VLF surveys were recommended (Assessment Report 21888).

Refer to Jewelry Box showing (093L 321) for related details of the Jewelry Box property, which covered the Carbonate showing in the late 2000s, and work done by Atna Resources in the 1980s and 1990s.

The 2012 exploration program of International Samuel Exploration Corp on the Jewelry Box property consisted of a 548 line kilometre Heliborne High Resolution Aeromagnetic survey that covered a number of showings including the area of the Carbonate showing.

In late 2018 and early 2019, Shamrock Enterprises Inc. conducted an aeromagnetic survey on the area as the Stellar property. This work identified four priority areas, referred to as the Big Dipper, Cassiopeia, Orion and Lynx zones, for ground-based exploration.

In 2019, Aurwest Resources Corp. conducted an aeromagnetic survey over the Stellar property. In 2021, Aurwest completed prospecting, geochemical sampling, and an Induced Polarization survey on the Stellar property.
